Joseph is a Ph.D. student in Political Science studying political theory. His primary research interests center on political participation, immigration, citizenship, and education. In his dissertation project, he is developing an account of an individual right of political participation inclusive of noncitizens. Other projects focus on teacher authority in classrooms and the experiences of undocumented immigrants in schools. He earned a B.A. in International Relations and German Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and worked for five years as a high school teacher before coming to Stanford.
